Happy new year from Catalysis Science & Technology!

Launched in 2011, Catalysis Science & Technology has grown from strength to strength, becoming a leading international journal in the field of catalysis science. We are sorry to say that this year, Piet van Leeuwen retires as Editor-in-Chief of the Editorial Board. As one of the founding Editors-in-Chief, Piet has been absolutely pivotal to the growth and success of the journal since its inception and we must give a huge thanks to him for his inspirational leadership and invaluable contributions over this time.

We are delighted to announce Piet's successor is Javier Pérez-Ramírez. Based at ETH Zurich, Javier is a leader in the field of design of heterogeneous catalysts and reactor concepts for sustainable technologies. As an Associate Editor for Catalysis Science & Technology since 2011, we are confident that Javier's passion, leadership and drive will enable the journal to continue to thrive over the coming years and we very much look forward to working with him in this new capacity as Editor-in-Chief.

Piet remembers, “When we started I thought that launching a new journal would be a risky enterprise, but my confidence grew as I realized that we could build one with a fantastic team, energy, enthusiasm, skill and knowledge. I would like to thank all of the Associate Editors and the Royal Society of Chemistry team for this fantastic achievement, excellent collaboration, and their hard work and precious hours that they have devoted to the journal. I am very pleased that Javier will continue as Editor-in-Chief for Catalysis Science & Technology and my congratulations go to Javier and to all involved with the journal.” Javier says, “I am proud to be the successor of an inspiring and visionary editor, an outstanding scientist and, most importantly, a splendid colleague. I will work hand in hand with the Associate Editors and the Editorial Office to reach new heights by ensuring scientific excellence, and transparent and fair procedures for our authors and reviewers.”

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our authors, referees, readers, and Editorial and Advisory Board members for their continued support of, and contributions to Catalysis Science & Technology, and we wish you a wonderful 2019.
