Complexes of guest–host type between C60 and group 9 metalloporphyrins

Abstract

Half-sandwich iridium(III) and cobalt(III) porphyrin–C60 co-crystals, C60·IrIII(ttp)Ph and C60·CoIII(ttp)Ph/C7H8, and triangular-sandwich C60·3IrIII(ttp)Ph, where ttp = tetra-p-tolylporphyrinato dianion, were synthesized. These complexes were structurally characterized by single crystal X-ray crystallography and featured C60 locations near the metal atoms. The dynamic behaviour between IrIII(ttp)Ph and C60 in solution was examined by NMR spectroscopy.
