Photoanode-immobilized molecular cobalt-based oxygen-evolving complexes with enhanced solar-to-fuel efficiency†
Abstract
We describe a trinuclear phenanthroline, linked with a Schiff base cobalt complex, displaying superior performances in homogeneous electrocatalytic water oxidation reaction in neutral solution with an extraordinary turnover frequency of 119 s−1. Subsequently, the complexes are successfully immobilized on the surface of TiO2 nanorod arrays for improvement of photoconversion efficiency of three times that of pristine photoanode under simulated solar irradiation.
