Guanghui Zhang was born in Hebei Province, China in 1984. He received his B.Sc. (2007) and M.Sc. (2010) from Nanjing Normal University in Prof. Peipei Sun's group, and he completed his Ph.D. in 2014 with Prof. Aiwen Lei at Wuhan University. He was a visiting graduate student at Argonne National Laboratory, US (2012–2014). He joined Prof. Adam S. Hock's group as a senior research associate at the Illinois Institute of Technology in 2014 and moved to Prof. Jeffrey T. Miller's group at Purdue University as a postdoctoral research associate. His current research focuses on the C–H activation of small alkanes.
