Abstract
Correction for ‘Comparison of the reactivity of β-thiolactones and β-lactones toward ring-opening by thiols and amines’ by Amandine Noel et al., Org. Biomol. Chem., 2012, 10, 6480–6483.
Compound 17 was mis-assigned. The correct structure for compound 17, shown below, is S-butyl 2-benzyl-3-mercaptothiopropionate. The correction of this structure indicates that β-thiolactone 15 undergoes nucleophilic ring opening by butanethiol following attack at the carbonyl carbon.
