Dr Richard
Kelly
Managing Editor, Toxicology Research,
Toxicology Research, led by Professor Nigel Gooderham (Imperial College, London), will be multidisciplinary in nature, covering both fundamental and applied aspects of physiological toxicology, including drug toxicity, food toxicity and their mechanisms, responses and risk/safety evaluation. Full scope details can be found on the journal's website. The journal's mission is to publish the most significant articles from both academia and industry, featuring research which introduces new thinking and has the potential to make a significant impact in the field.
New research in Toxicology Research is published as either Communications, for rapid reports of particularly significant preliminary results, or Full Papers. These are complemented by Reviews, which bring together recent research in key areas of toxicology. In all cases authors are encouraged to present their work in a succinct format, enhancing readability. All of our articles are free for anyone to access until the end of 2013, following a simple registration procedure.
Toxicology Research is the official journal of the British Toxicology Society and the Chinese Society of Toxicology. I am delighted that these two prominent Societies have joined us in launching Toxicology Research, and they share our goal of disseminating important and highly-significant research. The British Toxicology Society is represented on the Editorial Board by Professor Heather Wallace (University of Aberdeen) and the Chinese Society of Toxicology by Professor Wen Chen (Sun Yat-sen University).
Submissions will be handled by our two Associate Editors: Professor Frederik-Jan van Schooten (Maastricht University) and Professor Ping-Kun Zhou (Beijing Institute of Radiation Medicine and Secretary General of The Chinese Society of Toxicology). The Associate Editors will be supported by impressive Editorial and Advisory Boards and the RSC Publishing team behind Organic & Biomolecular Chemistry and MedChemComm, ensuring that submissions to Toxicology Research will be handled fairly, quickly and efficiently.
Our aim is for Toxicology Research to become one of the premier resources for researchers and we hope that you will submit some of your own work to the journal. The Editorial Board and I will be happy to discuss the journal with you and answer any questions that you may have. Simply contact the Editorial office at RSC Publishing, or chat to us at one of the many conferences that we will be attending over the coming year.
I hope that you enjoy reading this first issue.
