Introduction
Volume 107 of Annual Reports, part C, consists of the usual collection of highlights from various areas of Chemical Physics and Physical Chemistry. The first contribution by B. Hribar-Lee, M. Luksic and V. Vlachy is on ‘Partly-Quenched Systems Containing Charges’; following this ‘ESR Spectroscopy’ is covered by C. J. Rhodes; A.-L. Rollet and M. Salanne report on ‘Studies of the Local Structures of Molten Metal Halides’; an account on ‘Recent Advances in Aromaticity and Antiaromaticity in Transition Metal Systems’ is presented by T. R. Galeev and A. J. Boldyrev; P. Hobza reports on ‘The Calculation of Intermolecular Interaction Energies’; ‘State Specific Multireference Theory of Molecular Electronic Excited States’ is the topic of V. V. Ivanov, D. L. Lyakh and L. Adamowicz; ‘Mass Spectrometric Studies of Dissociation Constants of Noncovalent Complexes’ is the area covered by E. B. Erba and R. Zenobi; a survey of ‘Intracule Functional Models’ is provided by P. M. W. Gill; a review of the ‘Thermodynamics of Stacking Interactions in Proteins’ is contributed by P. Procacci; J. Solla-Gullon, F. J. Vidal-Iglesias and J. M. Feliu report on ‘Shape Dependent Electrocatalysis’; finally, Q. Chen, T. Hajagos and Q. Pei report on ‘Conjugated Polymers for Radiation Detection’.
It is my pleasure to express my gratitude to all of these reporters for their very interesting accounts of recent progress in their various areas of scientific research.
