It is my pleasure to introduce Part C of Volume 105 of Annual Reports on Progress in Chemistry. In keeping with the general format of this series, the present volume contains reviews of recent progress in various areas of Chemical Physics and Physical Chemistry.The first account is by P. K. Chattaraj and S. Giri on “Electrophilicity Index within a conceptual DFT Framework”; following this is an account by G. A. Buxton on “Ultrathin, Dynamic and Groovy: The Physics of Dutcher Films”; “The Second Entropy: A General Theory for Non-Equilibrium Thermodynamics and Statistical Mechanics” is presented by P. Attard; “X-Ray, Photo and Resonant Auger-Electron Spectroscopy Studies of Liquid Water and Aqueous Solutions” are discussed by M. A. Brown, M. Faubel and B. Winter; finally, O. D. Velev, S. Gangwal and D. N. Petsev review “Particle-Localized AC and DC Manipulation and Electrokinetics”.
It is a great pleasure for me to thank all of these reporters for their timely and interesting accounts.
