Temperature-dependent phase transition in a phenylfluorenol inclusion compound

Abstract

The inclusion compound 9-phenylfluoren-9-ol·4-methylcyclohexylamine undergoes a phase transition at 232 K. The transition is second order with no change in volume and is accompanied by small change in the host conformation. The structures were determined at 297 K and 193 K, and their lattice energies were calculated.
