Abstract

The reaction of TiCl4 with the bis-phosphinimine Me3SiN[double bond, length half m-dash] P(Ph)2CH2CH2P(Ph)2[double bond, length half m-dash]NSiMe3 1 proceeds with evolution of HCl and metallation of one CH2 group to give TiCl3{Me3SiNP(Ph)2CHCH2P(Ph)2NSiMe3} 2. The crystal structure of 2 is solved and shows a comparatively long Ti–C bond.
