Abstract

Two new isostructural aluminophosphates, A1.5[Al2P2O8.5(OH)0.5(H2O)]·xH2O (A = K or Rb) have been synthesized hydrothermally and characterized by powder X-ray diffraction, infrared and solid state NMR spectroscopy and thermal analysis. The structure of the potassium compound has been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The structure of its three-dimensional anionic framework is similar to that of AlPO4-15 with intersecting tunnels occupied by A+ ions and water of crystallization.
