Abstract

1,1-Dihalo-1-lithio species (halogenocarbenoids) undergo double insertion into the carbon–zirconium bonds of a zirconacyclopent-ane or -ene to produce, after hydrolysis, bicyclo[3.3.0]oct-anes and -enes.
