Abstract

The sulfur monoxide unit, which originates from a gaseous SO2 molecule trapped on a Ru6-cluster, is easily reduced either by CO or H2 to the sulfide ligand with concomitant skeletal cluster rearrangement, where the resulting cluster shape depends largely on the amount of the reducing agent taken up by the cluster.
