In addition to Zn2+, the photoreversibility of complexation by NQSP and QSP was examined using UV–VIS spectroscopy for the following metals: Zn2+, Hg2+, Cd2+, Pb2+, Cu2+, Ni2+, Co2+, Mg2+, Ca2+and Al3+. NQSP in THF exhibited photoreversibility for Hg2+, Cd2+, Pb2+, Mg2+, Ca2+ and Al3+, while QSP in THF and MeCN exhibited photoreversibility for only Zn2+ and Al3+.
