Abstract

(R)-(–)-Elenic acid 1, an inhibitor of topoisomerase II isolated from the marine sponge Plakinastrella sp., has been synthesized starting from hexadecane-1,16-diol 2 and methyl (S[hair space])-3-hydroxy-2-methylpropanoate 6.
