Abstract

Three new bisanthracenes (13) incorporating one or two nitrogen atoms in the linkage exibit low photoreactivity towards intramolecular dimerization which is assigned to an intramolecular electron-transfer from the amino group towards the excited anthracene, and to the poor flexibility of the chain tethering the chromophores.
