The 2D phase transition of thymine, uracil, guanine and coumarin, adsorbed at the Hg electrode/aqueous solution interface, is rationalised on the basis of the model proposed in Part 1, J. Chem. Soc., FaradayTrans., 1994, 90, 2925. The results together with that obtained for adenine, are compared with the relevant quantities calculated by using molecular descriptors (dipole moments and polarizabilities). Finally, a value of the standard enthalpy phase-transition variation, averaged over the results collected for the five compounds is estimated and discussed.
