Group contributions to the thermodynamic properties of cluster formation by non-ionic amphiphiles in their aqueous mixtures

Abstract

Several types of thermodynamic data, for mixtures of water with a variety of non-ionic amphiphiles, have been analyzed. The mass action model employed provided values for the changes in the thermodynamic properties that arise from cluster formation. The accumulated set of values for each type of property change was subjected to a group additivity analysis. These results are discussed in terms of several hypotheses concerning monomeric and clustered solute amphiphiles.
