Abstract

The CH3CN···HCl hydrogen-bonded complex has been synthesized in the channels of silicalite, a purely siliceous microporous material with the MFI structure. The IR spectra of this complex show that the effect of the solid environment on the vibrational properties of CH3CN···HCl adducts is significant and that the framework enhances the strength of the hydrogen bond.
