A sandwich complex of lithium oxide: {Li[BunC(NBut)2]}4·Li2O

Abstract

Hydrolysis of {Li[BunC(NBut)2]}2, prepared from LiBun and ButNCNBut in hexanes, produced the nineteen atom cluster {Li[BunC(NBut)2]}4·Li2O; an X-ray structure determination revealed an Li2O molecule encapsulated by two eight-membered Li2N4C2 rings.
