Abstract

[LW[double bond, length half m-dash]Sb[double bond, length half m-dash]WL] 7 (L = N(CH2CH2N(Np))3; Np = CH2CMe3) is prepared by treatment of [LWCl] 5 with LiSb(SiMe3)2- (dme)n; the ethylene complex [LWCl(C2H4)] 6 is a side product in the synthesis of 5; all complexes are structurally characterised.

  6. Li3[N(CH2CH2NNp)3] was synthesised from N(CH2CH2NNp)3 with three equivalents of BuLi. The neopentyl-substituted amine is obtained from conversion of tris(2-amionoethyl)amine with pivalinic anhydride and subsequent reaction of the acid amide with LiAlH4. The complex 5 was synthesised according to a modified procedure.46 crystallises in the form of green crystals along with 5.
