Abstract

Isonitriles are shown to form stable neutral adducts with some group 1 and 2 metal complexes; the synthesis and structures of [L[upper bond 1 start]i{N(R)C(Ph)N[upper bond 1 end]C(Ph)[double bond, length half m-dash]CR2}(CNPh)]2, [LiNR2(CNPh)]2, [Mg(CHR2)2(CNC6H3Me2-2,6)2] and [Mg(CHR2)(µ-Br)(CNBut)]2 are described (R = SiMe3).
