Abstract

The crystal structures of the inclusion compounds of (4R,5R)-4,5-bis(hydroxydiphenylmethyl)-2,2-dimethyl-1 ,3-dioxolane with methanol and ethanol have been elucidated. Their isothermal kinetics of desolvation have been studied. Both lose the guest in a single deceleratory step, and a kinetic model based on a diffusion mechanism was found to be the best description for this process.
