Abstract

The base-catalysed hydrolysis of oxazolidin-2-one 15 gives an oxypropanolamine 7 and 4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazo[4,5-c]pyridin-4-ones (17–19) and may occur by a BAL mechanism.
