Abstract

The heterobimetallic µ-(η16-1,3,5-cycloheptatrien-2-yl) complex 4 is obtained from 2-trimethylstannyl-1,3,5-cycloheptatriene 2 and [CpFe(CO)2Br] followed by reaction with [(EtCN)3Cr(CO)3]; hydride abstraction results in the formation of the first heterobimetallic cycloheptatrienylidene (CHT) complex [CpFe(CO)2{µ-(η17-CHT)}Cr(CO)3]BF4 5; the crystal structure of 4 is reported.
