Abstract

[RhCl(PMe3)3] reacts with an excess of phenylallene to give a new rhodacyclopentane, mer-[R[upper bond 2 start]h{CH2C([double bond, length as m-dash]CHPh)C([double bond, length as m-dash]CHPh )C[upper bond 2 end]H2}Cl(PMe3)3] 1, which is not obtained via the reaction of [RhCl(η2-CH2[double bond, length as m-dash]C[double bond, length as m-dash]CHPh)(PMe3 )3] 2 with phenylallene.
