Multiple nitrene insertions into the copper–sulfur bonds of dithiocarbamate ligands: synthesis and molecular structure of the tetraamido complex [Cu{η²-RNSC(NMe₂)SNR}₂] (R = SO₂C₆H₄Me-p)

Abstract

During the aziridination of styrene with PhI=NR (R = SO₂C₆H₄Me-p) the copper(III) catalyst [Cu(η²-S₂CNMe₂)₂][FeCl ₄] is converted into the crystallographically characterised tetraamido complex [Cu{η²-RNSC(NMe₂)SNR}₂], a result of nitrene insertion into all four copper–sulfur bonds.
