Abstract

The µ-alkylidene unit of a tungsten–palladium compound is oxidized to the corresponding ketone in the presence of an excess of Me3NO, whereas with 2–4 equiv., mono- and di-oxotungsten derivatives, which are likely intermediates in the formation of the ketone, are instead obtained.
