Rings and linear polymers formed by addition of silver perchlorate to trans-[Pt(C[triple bond, length as m-dash]CR)2(PMe2Ph)2 ] (R = But, H)

Abstract

Addition of AgClO4 to trans-[Pt(C[triple bond, length as m-dash]CR)2(PMe2Ph)2 ] (R = But, H) gives 1:1 adducts of the general formula trans-[PtAg(ClO4)(µ-C[triple bond, length as m-dash]CR)2(PMe 2Ph)2] which are cyclic dimers when R = But (ClO4- not coordinated) or linear polymers when R = H (ClO4- coordinated to silver).
