Abstract

Intermolecular dimethyl sulfoxide exchange on [Ir(Me2- SO)3(η-C5Me5][PF6]2 1 proceeds via a dissociative mechanism, exclusively from a conformational isomer of 1 (1c) which is itself in equilibrium with a second more compact conformer (1a).
