Abstract

A molecular imprinted polymer, prepared around a tamoxifen template, has been synthesised. The feasibility of using this polymer for solid-phase extraction of tamoxifen from biological samples has been investigated. The results show that the drug can be quantitatively retained and eluted from the polymer using acetonitrile–acetic acid. Experiments with biological fluids indicate that clean traces are obtained for HPLC with UV detection using this type of protocol.
