Calix[4]resorcinarenes, 2,8,14,20-tetramethyl- (L1 ) and 2,8,14,20-tetraphenyl- (L2) 5,11,17,23-tetradiethylamino- methylpentacyclo[19,3,1,13,7,19,13,115,19 ]octacosa- 1(25),3,5,7(26)9,11,13(27),15,17,19(28),21,23-dodecan- 4,6,10,12,16,18,22,24-octols, and their ytterbium complexes were synthesized. Some spectral-luminescence properties of Yb3+–L1 and Yb3+–L2 complexes were studied and their analytical possibilities were examined. The detection limit of ytterbium with L2 in YbCl3 solution was 0.09 µg ml-1.
