Abstract

An in situ method to determinate the adsorption density of cetylpyridinium bromide on a quartz surface is proposed by use of an electrode-separated piezoelectric sensor. The correlation between the frequency shift and the mass load on the quartz surface was investigated. The influence of liquid properties on the determination of adsorption density is discussed. The dependence of the adsorption density and adsorption rate on pH and ionic strength are reported.
