The synthesis of precisely structured polyurethanes. Part 2. Chain building methodology

Abstract

The development of methodology to construct polyurethanes of precise structure is described. A linker, 4-hydroxymethylphenol, is attached to the Merrifield resin and monomers OCN-Mx-OTBDPS (where Mx= aryl or diarylmethane core; TBDPS = ButPh2Si) are coupled sequentially via a dibutyltin dilaurate catalysed process. At each stage, chain cleavage and product distribution analysis allows optimisation of oligomer synthesis.
