Stokesian sphere simulations of suspension rheology

Abstract

The equations of motion for the mean-field Stokesian dynamics of hard spheres, in the cases of homogeneous continuous shear, oscillatory shear, and unixial flow are presented and solved. Preliminary results of simulations of such ‘Stokesian spheres’ under conditions of steady-state simple homogeneous shear are also presented. These simulations have verified numerically the formal equivalence between isokinetic non-equilibrium molecular dynamics and Stokesian sphere dynamics.
