Polyacrylate resins bearing the transition metal cluster unit Co3(CO)9C

Abstract

The alkylidyne tricobalt nonacarbonyl clusters [Co3(CO)9{C(CO)OCH2CH[double bond, length half m-dash]CH2}]1 and [Co3(CO)9{C(CO)O(CH2)2O(CO)CH[double bond, length half m-dash]CH2}]2 are prepared; compound 2 readily undergoes polymerisation to form polyacrylate resins containing the CCo3(CO)9 unit intact, as shown by GPC/UV–VIS and IR spectroscopy.
