Faraday communications. Chemistry of NO2+ in association with water clusters

Abstract

The fragmentation of mixed NO2(H2O)n cluster ions has been monitored as a function of n. Three separate patterns of behaviour are observed where the clusters lose either H2O or HONO2(nitric acid) and these reactions are discussed within the context of existing studies on the role of NO2+ in stratospheric chemistry.
