Vibrational spectroscopic analysis of group 6 metal hexacarbonyls in the solid state
Abstract
Vibrational spectra of group 6 metal hexacarbonyls in the solid state are analysed using the ‘oriented gas’ and ‘latent symmetry’ approaches. An explanation of lifting of degeneracies and relative intensities is provided, including the intensity predictions for the factor group components of distortion-induced intensities of molecularly forbidden modes.
