Immobilised phosphines incorporating the chiral biopolymers chitosan and chitin

Abstract

Reaction of chitosan with hydroxymethyl phosphines R2PCH2OH proceeds readily via a Mannich-type condensation reaction with the polymer NH2 groups to give a new type of chiral, immobilised phosphine.
