Synthesis and characterisation of tellurium-containing chalcogen–nitrogen heterocycles

Abstract

Cl6Te2N2S and Cl2Br4Te2N2S are prepared by oxidation of Cl2[graphic omitted]e with Cl2 or Br2, respectively; reduction of Cl2Br4Te2N2S with Ph3Sb gives Br2[graphic omitted]e, which on treatment with AgAsF6 in liquid SO2 forms [Br[graphic omitted]e]+[AsF6]; bromination of Br2[graphic omitted]e yields the corresponding Br6Te2N2S; attempts to prepare a dicationic five-membered ring system starting from Cl2[graphic omitted]e gives the first Te containing dioationic eight-membered chalcogen–nitrogen system [[graphic omitted]]2+[AsF6]2; reaction of C16Te2N2S with Me3SiN[double bond, length half m-dash]S[double bond, length half m-dash]NSiMe3 leads to Cl4Te2S2N4.
