Influence of presorbed molecules on the sorption of n-alkanes in zeolite NaCaA

Abstract

The sorption of water, n-octane and n-dodecane in zeolite NaCaA has been studied. The effect of various presorbed nitrogen- and oxygen-containing compounds on the sorption kinetics of n-alkanes was studied. The presorbed molecules affected the sorption kinetics of n-octane and n-dodecane in the zeolite. Even those molecules which could not enter zeolite cavities and are sorbed only on the external surface could also drastically influence the sorption kinetics of n-alkanes in the zeolite. The influence of presorption was dependent on the calcium content of the zeolite.
