Cleavage of the carbon–carbon double bond over zeolites using hydrogen peroxide

Abstract

Zeolite molecular sieves catalyse the cleavage of carbon–carbon double bonds of various alkenes in the presence of aqueous hydrogen peroxide as an oxidant; titanium silicate molecular sieves, TS-1 and TS-2 exhibit very high activity in the conversion of α-methylstyene into acetophenone.
