Insertion of alkenes into a palladium–acetyl bond

Abstract

A cationic acetylpalladium(II) complex cis-[Pd(COMe)(NCMe)(dppe)]+BF42 exhibits extremely high reactivity toward simple alkenes including cyclopentene, cycloheptene and methyl acrylate to give the corresponding alkene-inserted complexes, which have been characterised by IR and NMR spectroscopy.
