Direct hydrothermal conversion of cubic P zeolite to organozeolite SSZ-13

Abstract

The hydrothermal conversion of one zeolite into another is described. The product zeolite, SSZ-13, is a high-silica chabazite, and the reaction requires the use of the organocation, N,N,N-trimethyl-1-adamantammonium. The organocation stabilizes the synthesis of a high-silica product at high pH. Solution pH and product SiO2/Al2O3 increase during the conversion, and the interaction between silicate buffering and pH is discussed. The rate of conversion is also shown to be slowed by high alkali-metal content.
