CIDEP and CIDNP studies of the hydrogen abstraction of 9,10-anthraquinone from xanthene

Abstract

The hydrogen-abstraction reaction of 9,10-anthraquinone (AQ) from xanthene has been investigated by the CIDEP and CIDNP methods. The CIDNP spectrum is explained by a radical-pair mechanism, but a triplet mechanism contributes to the CIDEP spectrum. The products of AQ with xanthene are discussed.
