Alkali metal tellurolates: synthesis and X-ray crystal structures of monomeric sodium and potassium tellurolates with sterically hindered aryls

Abstract

Incorporation of sterically encumbered aryl ligands permits the isolation and characterization of stable sodium and potassium tellurolates; X-ray structures of the monomers [Na(tmed)2][Te(2,4,6-Me3C6H2)] and [K(18-C-6)][Te(2,4,6-Pri3C6H2)] are described (tmed [double bond, length half m-dash]N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylethylenediamine; 18-C-6 [double bond, length half m-dash] 1,4,7,10,13,16-hexaoxacyclooctadecane).
