A two-step model for cubic autocatalysis in an open system
Abstract
The conditions under which a scheme of coupled, catalytic, bimolecular reactions (2B ⇌ X; A + X → B + X; X → C) can exhibit multiple stationary states and oscillations are presented. In the limit of the first equilibrium step lying well to the left, this model reduces to cubic autocatalysis. However, exotic behaviour is a general property of the scheme and is found over a wide range of parameter values.
