Some aspects of flow electroanalysis

Abstract

Factors concerning the use of potentiometry and amperometry for flow detection are discussed. Examples are given of potentiometric measurements in flow injection (Fl) and continuous monitoring, and of highly selective detection in Fl and high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) using enzymic systems and selective complexation reactions with the ions of the electrode material. The application of microelectrodes and microelectrode arrays to detection in HPLC and some methods of activation of working electrodes are discussed. The relative merits of various voltammetric techniques for flow detection are compared and the usefulness of combinations of several detection techniques for improving the selectivity of measurement is demonstrated.
