Synthesis and characterization of a new double perovskite: LaCaMnCoO6

Abstract

A technique based on the formation of metallic complexes has been developed to synthesize a new mixed oxide of the perovskite structural type. Electron diffraction and microscopy of LaCaMnCoO6 shows this phase to be cubic with a cell parameter a= 7.666(1)Å, double that of a perovskite basic cell. The results are discussed in terms of ordering of both A and B sublattices of the perovskite structure.
