Vibronic exciton bands. Absorption spectra of Eosin Y dimers

Abstract

The visible spectrum of Eosin Y belongs to a single electronic transition but incorporates several discernible vibronic bands. It follows that the spectra of dimeric species of the dye need to be examined in terms of exciton interactions between vibronic bands. Application of the relevant theory describes the observed dimeric spectra well.
